The team at Intercity Contractors have recently started a new job at London’s infamous Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. We are refurbishing the steel framework of The Hive structure by removing the previous coating and applying a new one in its place.
The Hive is a geometric aluminium lattice installation featuring an immersive sight and sound experience triggered by bee activity. The Hive was initially created as the centrepiece of the UK Pavilion at the Milan Expo in 2015. As the structure was originally only intended for the 2015 Milan Expo, the steel support structure was not painted with longevity in mind, so the original coating needs replacing for something much more permanent now that the Hive is situated in London for the foreseeable future.
Intercity Contractors are taking climate control and our carbon footprint very seriously, which is why we are constantly updating our fleet onto the latest machinery to be as eco-friendly as possible within our trade and have as little environmental impact as possible. On this particular job, we are using one of our new compressors that are specifically designed for low emission outputs whilst maintaining optimum performance and efficiency.
