Our latest project is part of the renovation for The Lancasters for Grade I & II Listed renovation specialist contractor Rosewood. The Lancasters is a Bayswater residential development of luxury apartments, most of which overlooking Hyde Park. It was originally 15 stucco-fronted Grade II listed terraced houses dating back to the mid-19th century. The 407 foot long French Renaissance style façade of the building retains its original aesthetic whilst the structure behind was greatly altered from 2006-2011 to accommodate 77 lateral and duplex apartments as well as a multi-level underground car park.
Intercity Contractors have the crucial role of removing the diminished paint coating from the outside of the building without damaging the facia of the original terrace, whilst controlling dust exposure. This is a particularly specialist job as older paints can contain traces of lead which can be extremely harmful when inhaled and ingested. We have multiple safety precautions in place to ensure that no lead content is exposed to pedestrians or other workers on the job. At Intercity Contractors, we are fully lead trained and qualified shotblasters with the correct knowledge and equipment to safely remove this kind of paint. We have our own lead paint removal decontamination units as well as specialist extractors, pots and nozzles to minimise any potential risks when handling lead based paints.
Do you need help with removing some old paint coatings? Unsure of whether it contains lead? Intercity Contractors work closely with a team of scientists who can test samples that we take to their laboratory. We are fully trained in safe lead paint removal.
