Historic Railways Bridge Shot Blasting – Cambridgeshire

Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire

Historic Railways Estate and Hammond ECS enlisted the help of Intercity to carry out the refurbishment of Brampton Road Bridge in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. This is an old disused railway bridge that has been repurposed as a pedestrian walkway. We proudly offer our bridge shot blasting, bridge painting and bridge restoration services throughout the UK.

Before beginning bridge shot blasting works, we tested the old paint coating for lead content to determine how best to proceed with the paint removal. Once the results of the samples returned from the laboratory, we could begin taking action in a safe and controlled manor. With one of our modular decontamination units and our lead trained shot blasting team on site, we began to shot blast the old coating from the steel structure and clean the metal to Sa2.5 standard.

The bridge has been fully enclosed and restricted from the public whilst works are undertaken. After blasting we will then apply a protective paint coating system to ensure this structure remains in good condition and can be enjoyed and used for many years to come.
