Epoxy Self Levelling Coating & Polyurethane Floor Painting

Northamptonshire, East Midlands

Intercity offer a range of Industrial Floor Painting services including concrete floor painting, line painting, pedestrian walkways and self-levelling floor coatings. We have recently completed a project at the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 facility in Northamptonshire. On this occasion, the customer opted for a hard wearing light grey matt finish; ideal for maximum light reflection.

This particular concrete floor already had an existing paint coating that needed to be removed before we could begin. The old under-speced paint was removed with our state of the art specialist floor grinding machines, taking the surface back to bare concrete. This allows the coatings to soak into the concrete thus creating better adhesion.

Next, we applied a specialist Remmers paint system transparent epoxy primer. The primer treats the surface for maximum adhesions as well as adding a crucial layer of protection to the concrete surface below. We then applied a 4mm epoxy self levelling coating which creates a lovely smooth finish when dried.

As the customer had specified a matt (or matte) finish to the floor, we finished off with a topcoat of specially formulated polyurethane topcoat. This PU topcoat was in a shade of light grey which is very popular among floor coatings thanks to its clean aesthetic and light reflecting properties.

During this project, our team also removed the steel plates from the weighing scales to be refurbished. We took these back to our specialist shot blasting facility in Coventry to remove the old paint and blast the metal to Sa2.5 standard. We then spray applied an epoxy mastic primer followed by a durable PU topcoat. Intercity always use the right applications to ensure maximum protection from elements, wear and chemicals.

Intercity Contractors have been offering specialist coating services for over 25 years. We are professional experts in paint removal and applications, including polyurethane and epoxy resin floor painting. We offer our services on a national basis with bases in the Midlands and Central London.

The Benefits of Epoxy Self Levelling Floor Painting

Ease of maintenance – Concrete is notorious for being porous and absorbing stains making it very difficult to clean, our coatings will seal your concrete floors and make cleaning up a breeze.

Cost effective – Epoxy resin coatings used in concrete floor painting are cheaper and more durable than other options on the market. Epoxy is a cost effective option for concrete flooring, it’s also very versatile as different thicknesses can be applied.

Performance – Self levelling floor coatings offer a smoother finish than painting over concrete with traditional epoxy resin or PU coatings, being more forgiving to defects in the surface below. The thicker coating adds more protection to the concrete surface below, especially when partnered with a PU top coat on top. Nothing makes a statement like it.
