Automotive Workshop Floor Painting in Hertfordshire
Intercity Contractors completed the preparation and coating of a new pre-delivery inspection centre for Group 1 Automotive in Shenley, Hertfordshire.
The facility required a professional, hard-wearing floor suitable for an active automotive environment, combining a high-quality finished appearance with the durability required for regular vehicle movements and workshop operations.
Specialist Floor Preparation
Correct preparation was essential before the new coating system could be applied.
The floor was mechanically prepared using specialist planetary grinders, creating a smooth, consistent surface and providing the appropriate substrate for the subsequent primer and coating system.
Careful mechanical preparation helps maximise adhesion and is a critical part of achieving a durable industrial floor finish.
Multi-Coat Epoxy Resin Flooring System
Following preparation, the concrete floor was treated with a clear WB epoxy primer before the application of two coats of epoxy HB in the selected grey finish.
A durable epoxy resin system provides the hard-wearing characteristics required within busy automotive facilities while also producing the clean, professional appearance expected from a modern vehicle inspection and preparation centre.
The floor was subsequently completed with a polyurethane topcoat, selected to provide additional resistance to vehicle tyres and help reduce the potential for tyre staining and discolouration.
Workshop Line Marking
Contrasting parking bays and operational markings were incorporated into the finished floor.
A lighter grey was used for the 200 mm line markings, creating clear visual separation between vehicle areas while maintaining the overall appearance of the facility.
Combining the preparation, floor coating and line marking within the same project also provides a coordinated finished surface rather than treating each requirement separately.
