Warehouse Floor Painting FAQs
1. How durable is warehouse floor painting?
A professionally prepared and coated warehouse floor is designed to withstand regular pedestrian traffic, forklifts, pallet movements and everyday operational wear. The appropriate coating system will depend on the condition of the existing floor and the demands placed on it.
2. Can you add anti-slip finishes to warehouse floors?
Yes. Anti-slip finishes can be incorporated into warehouse floor coatings to provide additional grip where required, particularly in pedestrian routes, loading areas and other higher-risk operational areas
3. Can you repaint and remark a warehouse when the layout changes?
Yes. Existing warehouse floors can be prepared, recoated and remarked when racking, storage areas or operational layouts change. New forklift routes, pedestrian walkways, loading zones, storage areas and hazard markings can be incorporated into the finished floor.
4. Are warehouse floor coatings resistant to oils and chemicals?
Specialist industrial floor coatings can provide increased resistance to oils, chemicals, spills and other contaminants commonly encountered in warehouse environments. The appropriate coating should be selected around the substances present and the level of exposure expected.
5. Can you meet the health and safety requirements of large industrial sites?
Yes. Intercity Contractors regularly works within industrial and commercial environments where health and safety, site procedures and contractor compliance are fundamental requirements. We work closely with the client’s site management and health and safety teams to ensure the necessary documentation, risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), site procedures and project-specific requirements are addressed before work begins. Our teams work in accordance with current health and safety requirements and site rules throughout the project, allowing us to integrate with the procedures expected on larger factories, warehouses and operational sites.
6. How do you minimise disruption during warehouse floor painting?
Warehouse floor painting will inevitably require some access restrictions while areas are prepared, coated and allowed to cure. Intercity Contractors works closely with your warehouse and site management teams to plan the work around your operational requirements and minimise disruption wherever practical. Depending on the site and coating system, work can often be phased into sections, allowing other areas of the warehouse to remain operational while each stage is completed. Access, working areas, curing times and sequencing can all be agreed in advance so that the project is completed safely while reducing the impact on day-to-day warehouse operations.
