Slip Testing at Westfield Shopping Centre, London
Following flooring works undertaken at Westfield Shopping Centre, Intercity Contractors was asked to carry out a slip potential assessment across selected floor surfaces within the site.
Our slip testing service combines both wet and dry testing to assess the performance of the floor and identify areas where there may be an increased potential for slipping.
Pendulum Slip Testing
Testing was carried out using a specialist pendulum tester, with results recorded and compiled into a dedicated report.
The assessment provides Pendulum Test Values for the surfaces tested, allowing the slip potential of different areas and floor finishes to be evaluated and compared.
This provides facilities and property teams with clear information about the performance of existing flooring and can help identify areas requiring further investigation or remedial work.
Identifying Potential Flooring Problems
During testing at Westfield, surfaces previously coated by Intercity Contractors returned a low potential for slip under both wet and dry testing.
Other areas of the site recorded higher and more moderate slip potential. Possible causes can include deterioration through use, worn surfaces or the suitability and condition of existing coating systems.
The results therefore provide more than a simple pass or fail. They help establish where flooring performance differs across a site and where further attention may be appropriate.
