Workshop Floor Painting at Silverstone Circuit
Intercity Contractors was appointed to prepare and coat approximately 650 m² of workshop flooring at Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, creating a durable new surface suitable for a demanding motorsport environment.
The workshop required a hard-wearing flooring system capable of dealing with regular vehicle movements, equipment, foot traffic and the day-to-day demands associated with a professional racing facility.
Mechanical Floor Preparation
Correct preparation is fundamental to the performance of any industrial floor coating.
Before applying the new coating system, the existing concrete floor was mechanically prepared to remove surface contamination and provide the appropriate substrate for the subsequent coating system.
Specialist preparation equipment was used across the workshop floor before the area was cleaned and made ready for coating.
Grey Epoxy Resin Floor Coating
A grey epoxy resin flooring system was selected to provide a hard-wearing, practical and professional finish across the workshop.
Epoxy resin coatings are particularly suited to workshops and industrial environments because they provide a durable surface capable of coping with regular traffic while also creating a cleaner, brighter and easier-to-maintain working environment.
The completed floor provides Silverstone with a consistent professional finish appropriate for a high-performance automotive facility.
Flooring Designed for Motorsport Workshops
Motorsport and automotive workshops place particular demands on their flooring. Regular vehicle movements, tyres, tools, equipment and concentrated working areas all need to be considered when specifying the preparation and coating system.
For this project, the finished floor also needed to withstand the stresses associated with racing vehicles and their tyres while maintaining the appearance expected within a professional motorsport facility.
