On this particular project at Sunbelt Rentals in Basildon, the customer opted for a dark grey floor coating with contrasting yellow pathways. This started out as a very old, damaged, oily floor with a coating that needed a fair bit of preparation work. The existing coating needed to be removed so we ran over the surface with our state-of-the-art remote control floor grinder. We did the entire surface twice to take the concrete back to an acceptable state for painting.
We then applied two coats of solvent-based epoxy, as specified by the customer. Sunbelt Rentals specify solvent-based epoxy for all of their UK workshop floors. Intercity are happy to work with our clients and use the customers’ choice where possible. However, this isn’t what we would have chosen for the application as industrial coatings experts of over 25 years.
The customer then gave us a drawing for where they wanted their footpath which we followed, coating in the same solvent-based epoxy but in a bright shade yellow. Three coats of the yellow paint ensured a bold contrast to the new dark grey floor beneath.
